Patong has a strong reputation to which it has lived up to. This reputation is mainly the action on Bangalow Road; the party street. People from all over the world come to this crazy town to party. Full of Australians, Russians, British, American, Chinese.. the list goes on. Compared to a night out in one my home towns; Surfers Paradise, a full monty night in Patong will cost you about half. Beers are around 100tbh, tequila sunrise is around 150tbh; under 5 bucks! However, for those single men, there is a ‘culture’ of ladies working the streets and the infamous ladyboys which can for some significantly increase the bill for the night. I’m sure many of your are aware of the phenomenon of Thai kathoey or ladyboy. If your not, be aware, its everywhere, very acceptable and popular on this island. For people like myself who don’t reap the benefits of ladyboys it really is amusing, if you can tell! Often they are very well disguised and most farang men can’t even tell the difference. On a night in the town, expect to see some unmentionable activities, crazy things happen; especially under the influence, just be careful as many foreigners often get themselves hurt or in trouble.

Patong is made for tourists; full of restaurants for the families, pubs for the more chilled out and of course the crazy clubs open all night long for the party animals. Whatever your style, i personally would only recommend it for one night, max! Around Kata, Karon, Chalong there are many other clubs and reggae bars around which don’t have the crowds and prices as Patong but it sure is an experience!
